The People’s Committee of Lang Son province has just approved the adjustment of the investment policy for the Mau Son Eco-tourism and Cable Car Complex. The investor is Mau Son Sun Limited Liability Company, a member of Sun Group. This is the third time the project’s investment policy has been adjusted, following two previous times in the 2020-2022 period.
The project has a total area of over 692 hectares, divided into two phases. Phase I covers nearly 122 hectares, located in Loc Binh and Mau Son communes. The implementation schedule after adjustment is from the second quarter of 2026 to the second quarter of 2031, with a total capital of about 4.9 trillion VND. In this phase, the investor expects to complete site clearance and legal procedures, and construct many works such as stations, cable car routes, resort hotels, commercial services, and squares.
Phase II covers more than 570 hectares in Mau Son commune, with a capital scale of over 2.4 trillion VND. The schedule is from the second quarter of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2032. In this phase, the investor will continue site clearance and implement items such as a semi-wild animal rescue area, parking lots, ecological landscape forest land, and commercial service areas.
The above schedule has been extended compared to the investment policy adjustment in 2022, when the project was set to be implemented from the first quarter of 2018 to the fourth quarter of 2028.
In addition, the project’s development goal has also been adjusted to invest in a tourist area with resort activities, entertainment, eco-tourism, and spiritual culture bearing the identity of the Northern mountainous region, meeting the needs of about 1 million visitors per year.
Previously, the project was oriented to become a national tourist area with typical tourism products being mountain resort tourism, spiritual culture, and four-season ecology of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region and the whole country.

At a working session with the People’s Committee of Lang Son province in early February, a representative of Sun Group said the corporation would soon construct the cable car system and tourism, amusement, and entertainment complexes. The project is expected to operate its first items in 2027.
The Mau Son Eco-tourism and Cable Car Complex is a key project in the tourism development roadmap for this area until 2030. The focal point of the project lies in the Sun World entertainment complex on the Mau Son peak area with 3 themed subdivisions. The area at the foot of Mau Son mountain will form a complex of shopping, entertainment, green parks, walking paths, and a theater.
Mau Son is 30 km from the old Lang Son city and about 180 km from Hanoi. This area is over 1,500 m above sea level, featuring a typical tropical climate and beautiful scenery. It possesses many relics with unique cultural identities, pristine spaces, and great potential for tourism development.
