Dong Nai starts construction of avenue connecting to Ho Chi Minh City

Nguyen Huu Canh Avenue, 15.5 km long with a 60-meter right-of-way, passes through Aqua City, forming a new traffic axis connecting Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, creating momentum for urban development.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Nguyen Huu Canh Avenue (Huong Lo 2) – component project 2, took place on June 30. The event is considered one of the key infrastructure milestones aimed at strengthening regional connectivity between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the planning, Nguyen Huu Canh Avenue has a length of about 15.5 km, starting from National Highway 51, passing through Long Hung, Tam Phuoc, and An Phuoc wards before connecting with the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway. The project is implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model and is expected to be completed in the 2026-2028 period.

Nguyen Huu Canh Avenue is one of the projects in the transport system development strategy of Dong Nai. Along with projects such as Long Thanh Airport, Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway, and Long Hung Bridge, the route is expected to create more momentum to promote regional linkage and expand urban development space.

Once put into operation, the route will reduce pressure on National Highway 51. At the same time, it will open a new connection direction between the eastern urban area of Ho Chi Minh City and the existing transport network, creating favorable conditions for the development of riverside urban areas.

One of the urban areas directly benefiting from the route is Aqua City. Through this route, the connectivity from Aqua City to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, Long Thanh Airport, as well as key economic and tourism centers in the South will be shortened.

Previously, the popular route from Aqua City to Ho Chi Minh City was mainly via National Highway 51, crossing Dong Nai Bridge, and then following Hanoi Highway to enter the city center.

With Nguyen Huu Canh Avenue, Aqua City residents can connect directly to the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway. When Long Hung Bridge is completed, residents of this urban area will have another travel option to Ho Chi Minh City.

A representative of Novaland, the developer of Aqua City, assessed that this avenue is of great significance to the project and the entire Dong Nai riverside urban axis. This route will directly solve the connectivity issue that has existed for many years, which is also what residents have been looking forward to. With travel time significantly shortened, the urban area will have more motivation to attract residents and high-quality experts to the region.

“In other words, this avenue axis contributes to realizing the orientation of developing a livable mega-city, step by step forming a modern living space associated with the new growth drivers of Dong Nai city,” the representative said.

Aqua City is developed on a scale of 1,000 hectares. Besides the advantage of 32 km of riverfront, the project is also located in an area concentrating many key infrastructure projects being invested in simultaneously, creating a multi-directional connection network.

The consecutive implementation of major transport projects is expected to create more development space for the project, while promoting trade, services, and increasing the ability to attract residents.

Not only benefiting from infrastructure, Aqua City is also step by step completing its urban appearance. According to information from the developer, so far more than 1,200 townhouses and villas have been handed over, and many families have moved in to live. Many amenities such as Aqua Marina Square, Nova Mall, CitiGym Lifestyle Center, clubhouse, restaurants, coffee shops, and the park system have come into operation, contributing to shaping the rhythm of life in the urban area.

Parallel to the operation process, the project continues to construct many subdivisions such as River Park, Ever Green, Sun Harbor, and Phoenix Island. The developer said they will continue to hand over about 9,200 more products in the 2026-2027 period, while implementing the plan to hand over pink books to residents in some subdivisions this year.
