Aeon Mall to build shopping mall worth over 900 billion VND in Ninh Binh – VnExpress Newspaper

Aeon Mall is about to build a shopping mall worth over 900 billion VND in Ninh Binh.

Aeon Mall Vietnam plans to break ground on the shopping mall in Phu Ly in early August, aiming for operation by the fourth quarter of 2027.

The Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee recently had a working session with Aeon Vietnam Co., Ltd. regarding the progress of the shopping mall project.

According to the investor’s report, the project is located at the intersection of the 68m road and the 42m road in Phu Ly ward (formerly of Ha Nam province). Approved in principle for investment since late 2023, the project consists of a shopping mall block and auxiliary items with a total construction floor area of about 26,000 square meters. The total investment capital is approximately 940 billion VND.

Currently, Aeon Vietnam has completed procedures for fire prevention, firefighting, and environmental protection. The unit is finalizing procedures related to land and construction licensing. According to the plan, construction on the project will start this August, with operations expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027.

During the working session, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh requested the enterprise to concentrate resources and clearly assign contact points to complete documents and procedures, ensuring conditions to start the project on schedule.

To date, the Japanese retail group has operated 8 shopping centers, 15 general department stores and supermarkets (including compact models), 45 medium-sized supermarkets, and hundreds of convenience stores in Vietnam. An Aeon representative assessed Vietnam as one of the leading dynamic retail markets in the region with a young population structure and rising consumer demand. However, the modern retail channel only accounts for about 12-15% of the total market, indicating significant room for growth.

Following the merger with Nam Dinh and Ha Nam, the new Ninh Binh province now has an area of over 3,940 square kilometers and a population of more than 4.4 million people. The consolidation is expected to create favorable conditions for effectively exploiting the potential of inter-regional trade, tourism, and logistics. To date, the province has attracted about 750 FDI projects, with a total registered capital of nearly 15 billion USD.
