HDMon and Chinese investors have proposed a 18 billion USD coastal tourism urban area in the Van Don Economic Zone, Quang Ninh.
This proposal was presented by a consortium of investors including HDMon Group Joint Stock Company, Vante Capital Fund 1, CIIC Group, and China Construction Corporation during a meeting with the leaders of Quang Ninh province on the afternoon of July 28.
The consortium aims to develop a next-generation coastal tourism urban area spanning approximately 5,000 hectares, with an estimated investment of 18 billion USD in the Van Don Economic Zone, Quang Ninh province. The project will feature five functional zones: a maritime urban and tourism center, a resort urban area, seaport tourism services, a medical and technology urban area within a free trade zone, and a forest and cultural conservation area.
This project is also considered one of the largest investment ideas ever proposed in the Van Don Economic Zone. The total investment of the urban area proposed by HDMon’s consortium is equivalent to the ongoing mega-project, Ha Long Xanh (Global Gate Ha Long) by Vinhomes.
At the meeting, Quang Ninh Party Secretary Quan Minh Cuong stated that Van Don is experiencing many new development opportunities. Van Don is oriented to become a modern, smart special economic zone, as well as an important growth pole for Quang Ninh and the entire Northeast region. Therefore, the Quang Ninh Party Secretary believed that the investment idea must be breakthrough in order to effectively exploit the unique potential and advantages of the area.
Provincial leaders agreed to allow the investor consortium to study and complete the proposal dossier for the Provincial People’s Committee to review and appraise before reporting to competent authorities. The project dossier must fully demonstrate the investor’s financial, scientific-technological, and technical capabilities.
Located in the east of Quang Ninh province, Van Don gathers many major infrastructure projects such as the Ha Long – Van Don – Mong Cai expressway, Van Don International Airport, and Ao Tien port. The area is also oriented to become a multi-sector marine economic zone, an entertainment industry center with a casino, and a high-end sea-island tourism destination by 2030.
